29 Year Old Man with 21 Kids & A Minimum Wage Job - Don Juan or Dead Beat?

Ok, so you know I was going to hit on this one for sure!!! A man has 21 kids and he is only 29 years old! WTF is up with that?

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) — On paper, he has 20 possibly 21 children.


With a minimum wage job, he can’t afford to support them all.


What is the state to do?


Desmond Hatchett, 29, told WVLT he wasn’t out to set a record, though he certainly holds it in Knox County Juvenile Child Support Court.


Hatchett’s children range in age from newborn 11.


There are at least 11 mothers; probably several more.


Constitutionally, there is nothing the state can do to limit him from having more.


“I had four kids in the same year. Twice.” Desmond Hatchett told Volunteer TV.


On Friday, his name appeared on the docket 11 times; Representing about 15 of his 21 children.


“Can you keep up with it all?” WVLT asked Hatchett.

“Yeah,” he said.

“You know all their names, and ages and birthdays?”

“Yeah.”


Hatchett’s name is pretty controversial at the old courthouse.


“The children can’t be supported all by Desmond, so the state of Tennessee has had to step in,” Hatchett’s attorney Keith Pope said.


It’s your tax dollars at work.


WVLT spoke with one mom who has two children with Hatchett.

She is supposed to get $67.50 a month. But many times, she gets a lot less than what she’s owed.

They all do.


“It’ll make it through half the month,” the unidentified mom said.


She told Volunteer TV, Hatchett is the father of her two sons. And she says her 4-year-old is expensive enough on his own. “He’s a heavy milk drinker. And milk is not cheap,” she said.


“It’s frustrating, but usually, when I ask he give it to me,” she continued.


It’s due process– the state is only allowed to take 50% of Hatchett’s paycheck.

That’s 50% split multiple times.


“You look at when they filed, how many children they have– he has several mothers that he has two children with. And, it’s tough” Pope explained.


Still, Hatchett says the women knew what they were getting into.

They were all aware of his large family.


One said, she doesn’t like it but she deals with it. “It’s about the kids. Not the parents,” she said.


Hatchett agrees he should do what’s best for the kids.


“Do you intend to keep having children?” WVLT asked.

“No.” Hatchett replied.

“You’re done?”

“I’m done. I’ll say I’m done.”

“What made you say that?”

“I didn’t intend to have this many. It just happened,” Hatchett said.


Desmond Hatchett spent part of Friday afternoon jailed while a child support referee decided how to split up the $400 he brought to court.


If he doesn’t pay what he owes, he will go back to jail because he is on an automatic jail order.


The mothers of Hatchett’s children are supposed to get anywhere from $25 to $309 a month, but when his paycheck is garnished amongst them all, some women only get a $1.98 a month.

So much to say. So many dumbasses in one place. Some of the women get 1.98 per month, can you cash a check for 1.98 with a straight face? So much stupidity. These women had to have known what they were getting into. You can hide two kids for a while, you might even be able to hide 4 kids. But 10? 13? 18? So much stupidity, it hurts. Most people would have learned their lesson, and wrapped it up after the second or third child. Those of you who don’t know how to wrap it up, or have partners that can’t “remember” how to wrap it up go here.

Sad to say: the kids and the government will suffer. The kids will only have a part-time father. And, the government will have to provide food and Section 8 and whatever else they need. There is a solution: REALITY SHOW!! There is “Jon and Kate plus Eight”. They can have Desmond, Carmelontae, Fantasia, Equasia, Mochachetta, Equashenay, Zahquasia, Tangela, Sandriana, Romina, Letrovanay and Cashmere plus 21. Let these fools air their dirty laundry, add drama, a feud between Sandriana and Equasia. Bring in the in-laws and viewers will be HOOKED. Damn, I need a TV station.

*As if Octomom wasn't bad enough, Desmond Hatchett has now fathered at least 21 children he can't support. Hatchett was in child support court again last week. His name appeared on the dockett 11 times in one day, representing 15 of his children.

Hatchett says he wasn't out to set a record. He says he never intended to have this many children, "It just happened." He fathered the children by at least 11 different women and he claims all of the mothers knew about his large family. The children range in age from newborn to 11 years old.

The question Knox County officials now face is how to support all these children. Hatchett works a minimum wage job and by law the state can only take 50% of his paycheck for child support. By the time that money is split 21 ways, some of the mothers get less than $2 per month. That leaves the taxpayers footing a large portion of the bill for these children.

Even though Hatchett can't support the children he has, there is nothing the state can do to prevent him from having more. Hatchett reports that he had 4 children in one year, twice. He says he's done having children now, but only time will tell. He does say that he's a good father and knows the names, ages, and birthdates of all of his children.

All of the blame can't be placed on Hatchett in this case. One has to wonder about the women who chose to have his children. In the end, the children and the taxpayers of Tennessee will pay for their choices for years to come.

Vick leaves federal penitentiary for Va.

RICHMOND, Va. - Suspended NFL star Michael Vick left a Kansas prison before dawn Wednesday to begin home confinement in Virginia, one of his attorneys said, the latest step on a journey that Vick hopes will lead to his reinstatement.


So where does Michael Vick get reinstated? Is he worht the risk and is he going to make the serious salary like before or will he be paid just above league minimum?

Vick, who turns 29 in June, slipped past waiting cameras and reporters undetected to leave a federal penitentiary in Leavenworth after serving 19 months for financing a dogfighting ring. He was headed to Virginia by car to begin two months of home confinement at his five-bedroom house in Hampton before a scheduled release from federal custody July 20.


House arrest at a his home in Virginia...Give me a break! I guess when you got the money and people still are talking about you this could be the outcome. Let the average man get busted for doing some thing like this and see if he gets to live a lap of luxury!

He was accompanied by his fiance, Kijafa Frink, and they were traveling back to Virginia with several members of a security team arranged for by Vick’s team of lawyers and advisers, a person familiar with the plans told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to comment on the matter.


Baby mom came to pick him up when he got released! I wonder if she put money on his books and is there a limit in how much money she can put on his books! I think 250K is a little bit much!

The traveling party also includes a videographer recording the journey, the person said, although what Vick plans to do with the footage has not been announced.
The drive from Leavenworth to Hampton is expected to take about 19 hours. “It’s a happy day for him to be starting this part of the process,” Larry Woodward, Vick’s Virginia-based attorney, said. “He looks forward to meeting the challenges he has to meet.”

I also heard that he already made a stop at an airport hotel with his security team and also with his baby momma! He probably needed to wax some azz before he got too far away! I'm not mad at the man for that one!!!

Vick’s release was first reported by The Daily Press of Newport News, Vick’s hometown.
Ultimately, Vick’s goal is to rehabilitate his image and return to the NFL, but Woodward said his first priority “is spending time with his children and his loved ones.”

He needs to get involved with dog rehab to if he wants to get back in good graces with his fans!

Vick has much work to do to get back into some semblance of playing condition after spending two years out of the game, but his agent, Joel Segal, said his career won’t be Vick’s immediate focus. “Football is on the back-burner for now,” he said.

Commissioner Roger Goodell, who suspended Vick indefinitely in August 2007, reiterated Wednesday he will review Vick’s status after his criminal case is concluded. He has said Vick will have to persuade him and the public that he is genuinely sorry for his crime, has been changed by his experience and that he’s committed to leading a different life.

He is going to have to do some real impressing if he wants a shot at getting back into the NFL! Commissioner Goodell is not going to be easy on him either, I hope he can hold up his end of the deal!

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank said Wednesday that Vick has paid his debt to society and merits a second chance. Blank said that second chance won’t come with the Falcons. Blank said the quarterback is taking positive steps by wanting to work with humane societies and making other changes in his life.



“We’ve made it clear Michael’s not going to play for us again, as you know,” Blank said. “Right now his salary is being tolled so it has no effect on our cap, beyond the allocation of signing bonus which happens under any circumstances. So we’ll deal with it at the time we think is correct.”
Vick, once the NFL’s highest-paid player, is scheduled to report to a probation officer Friday in Norfolk, Woodward said.





He will be allowed to leave home to work a $10-an-hour job as a laborer for a construction company and for other limited purposes approved by his probation officer. He will serve three years of probation after his home confinement ends.
The Humane Society of the United States said Tuesday that Vick met its president recently in prison and wants to work on a program aimed at eradicating dogfighting among urban teens.

EDMONTON, Britain - Mensa, the society for geniuses, has accepted its youngest member -- a 2-year-old.
Elise Tan Roberts from Edmonton, North London in Britain has an IQ of 156. Albert Einstein was believed to have an IQ of 160. The average IQ is 100. Elise can name 35 capital cities, identify the three types of triangle and recite the alphabet, according to the Times of London .
Mensa normally only accepts children 10 or older, but the society made an exception for Elise because she tested so high on the Stanford-Binet intelligence scale. She is in the top 0.2 percent for her age.

Elise's mother Louise Tan Roberts said she and her husband, Edward, haven't done anything special. They simply answer her questions and encourage her to learn.
"It's nothing to do with me," Louise told the Mirror.co.uk . "She just says things and you have no idea where she got it from. I don't set out to teach her loads of stuff, she just enjoys learning and picks things up. She's always on the go, she never stops."
Edward, a car buyer and motor consultant, hopes to encourage her to continue to learn fast.
"We don't want to make her have to dumb down and stop learning just to fit in. But she's still my baby. I just want her to be happy and enjoy herself."

Recently an American 6-year-old boy scored a 176 on his IQ test . Pranav Veera can recite the names of U.S. presidents in the order they served in office and can say the alphabet backwards. One person in a million has an IQ above 176.

British woman could face Laos death penalty

BANGKOK, Thailand (CNN) -- A pregnant British woman facing possible execution in Laos will go on trial this week, the country's foreign affairs ministry said Monday.

Samantha Orobator became pregnant in prison, according to a spokeswoman for rights group Reprieve.

Samantha Orobator "is facing death by firing squad for drug trafficking," said Clare Algar, executive director of Reprieve, a London-based human rights group.
Orobator, 20, was arrested on August 5, said Khenthong Nuanthasing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman.
She was alleged to have been carrying just over half a kilogram (1.1 pounds) of heroin, Reprieve lawyer Anna Morris told CNN by phone from Vientiane, the Laotian capital. "For that amount of heroin the sentence is normally the death penalty," she said.
Orobator's mother Jane found out in January her daughter was pregnant -- more than four months after she was arrested, her mother said.
Jane Orobator heard the news from the British Foreign Office, which has been monitoring the case, the mother told CNN by phone from Dublin, where she lives.
She cannot believe her daughter was involved in drug trafficking, and was surprised to learn she was in Laos, she said.
"I don't know" what she was doing there, she said. "The last time she spoke with me, she said she was on holiday in London and she would come to see us in Dublin before returning to the U.K. in July.
"She is not the type of person who would be involved in drugs," she added.
Reprieve is worried about her health, especially given her pregnancy, Anna Morris said.
"She became pregnant in prison. We are concerned that it may not have been consensual and we are concerned that someone who finds herself in prison at 20 is subject to exploitation," she said.
She is due to give birth in September, the lawyer added.
Reprieve sent Morris from London to Laos to try to help Orobator, Algar said.
The lawyer arrived there on Sunday and is hoping to visit Orobator on Tuesday, her boss at Reprieve said. A British consul has also arrived in the country.
"Reprieve heard about her case two weeks ago. We had thought yesterday the trial was going to start today," Algar said Monday. "We have now heard from Anna that it is not going to."
"I am the first British lawyer who has asked for access to her," Morris said. "She needs to have a local lawyer appointed to her. We are pressing very hard for the local authorities to appoint one."
She said it was normal in the Laotian justice system for a defendant to get a lawyer only days before a trial.
The last execution in Laos was in 1990, the foreign affairs spokesman said.
British Foreign Office Minister Bill Rammell issued a statement about Orobator on Saturday.
"The British Government is opposed to the use of the death penalty in all circumstances. We have made the Laos authorities aware of this at the highest levels in Samantha's case," he said.
"We are paying close attention to her welfare and are in regular contact with the Laotian authorities about her case. British Embassy officials, including the Ambassador, have visited her six times since her arrest," he said.
"In addition, Britain's consular representatives in Laos, the Australian Embassy, including the Australian Embassy doctor, have visited Samantha 10 times on our behalf," he said.
There is no British Embassy in Laos. A British vice-consul arrived in the country this weekend, the Foreign Office said Monday.
Rammell plans to raise the Orobator case with the Laotian deputy prime minister this week, he said.
Samantha Orobator was born in Nigeria and moved to London with her family when she was 8, her mother said.

Orobator will escape the death sentence because she is pregnant, a spokesman for the Laotian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
The country's criminal law prohibits courts from sentencing pregnant women to death, spokesman Khenthong Nuanthasing told CNN. The woman's trial hasn't been scheduled yet, he said, but is likely to happen next week.

Jill Scott, star of The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency, has given birth to her first child.
The American actress and soul singer welcomed son Jett Hamilton Roberts on Monday Apr 20, 2009 and weighed 7 lbs., 8 oz. The boy's father is Jill's fiancé, drummer Lil John Roberts.
Jill has revealed that she has had 'reproduction issues' over the course of her life, and during her first marriage to graphic artist Lyzel Williams was unable to conceive.

The 37-year-old told People magazine: 'I was married for five years and could never conceive a child. Until now ... It's the most amazing thing that's ever happened to me.'
Jill plays Mma Ramotswe in The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency, the BBC drama based on the novels by Alexander McCall Smith.
The actress, who has also won three Grammy awards for her singing and songwriting, found out she was pregnant on the day she was due to leave for Botswana to film the show.

She told the magazine: 'At one point I was trying to gain weight for the role, and I noticed I had put on 7 lbs in seven days. And I thought, my god! What's going on here? I thought something was wrong with me.'
She spent the first trimester of her pregnancy in Africa, a period she described as 'one of the biggest challenges of my life.'
'You're sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14 hour days,' she said.
Despite the difficulties, she carried on filming through her pregnancy, with the clearance of doctors.
She announced her engagement to Lil John Roberts while performing at Carnegie Hall in New York last June.
